Microsoft's MAI-DxO AI system scores 83% accuracy vs 36% for doctors
In a simulation using complex New England Journal of Medicine cases, Microsoft’s MAI-DxO diagnostic system was correct 83% of the time, compared with 36% for primary care doctors and general internists working individually. The system coordinates multiple AI agents and achieved its best results using OpenAI’s GPT‑5 and GPT‑5.5 models.
Benchmarks are the company's own; not independently verified.
Why it matters
MAI‑DxO’s 83% accuracy benchmark suggests product managers can pitch AI diagnostics that outperform generalist physicians.
