MeitY proposes DEPA framework to share AI training data with privacy safeguards
The IT ministry (MeitY) has proposed the Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture (DEPA) for AI training, a consent‑based framework that lets startups, businesses and academic institutions access anonymised, encrypted Indian datasets via a data‑exchange platform, with metadata tagging and electronic contract checks, developed with think‑tank iSPIRT.
Why it matters
Incorporate DEPA‑approved datasets into product roadmaps to accelerate AI model training while meeting privacy compliance.
