OpenAI caps paid ChatGPT accounts per device and payment card

OpenAI now limits the number of paid ChatGPT accounts that can be linked to a single device or payment card; accounts that hit the limit cannot start new subscriptions and logging out does not free a spot. The restriction applies to ChatGPT Go, Plus, Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500, while free, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans are exempt.

Why it matters

The device and card caps on paid plans mean you should reconsider multi‑account pricing models to retain users who previously juggled cheap subscriptions.
