Synology urges DSM update after ransomware exploits Dec 2024 patched flaw
Synology warned that threat actors are exploiting a vulnerability patched in December 2024 to target NAS devices running outdated DSM versions, deploying C3RB3R ransomware that encrypts files with a .L0CK3D extension while skipping 27 directories and specific file types.
Why it matters
Notify customers to verify DSM versions and schedule updates; outdated firmware leaves devices vulnerable to ransomware.
