Binance reports $6.43 B theft via fake job interviews and tampered Homebrew AI tool
Binance said a $6.43 billion asset theft resulted from a multi‑stage campaign that used a trojanized Homebrew installer to deliver an AI tool, fake recruitment interviews, compromised internal AI tooling, endpoint compromise, and an advanced transaction‑authorisation method. The attack began with a supply‑chain compromise of a Wallet DevOps engineer in June 2026 and was detected before credentials were rotated.
Why it matters
Add detection for supply‑chain tampering of AI tool installers; users will expect safeguards against malicious Homebrew packages.
