Drax partners with Brookfield and Radiant to plan £20bn AI datacenter, 100MW phase by 2028

Drax Power Station will develop a £20 billion AI datacenter with up to 1 GW power use, starting with a 100 MW phase by early 2028 backed by £2.5 bn investment, in partnership with Brookfield, Radiant and Qatar’s Qai.

Why it matters

Plan AI workloads assuming only 100 MW of dedicated power will be available by early 2028, limiting on‑prem training capacity.
